A MAN from Frome has been charged with causing the death of 20 year old Alfie Belcher in January.

The inquest into the death of Mr Belcher was due to take place in August but was suspended due to the Police investigation.

Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed today that 21-year old Alfie Saviour is being charged with causing the death of Mr Belcher by dangerous driving, and is also being charged with causing death by driving without due care while unfit through drink, and causing death by driving a vehicle unlicensed and uninsured.

He is due to appear in Yeovil Magistrates' Court in October.

A spokesperson for the Avon and Somerset Police said: “A 21-year-old man has been charged after a police investigation into the fatal collision in Rode in January in which Alfie Belcher sadly died.

“Alfie Seviour, of Frome, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving without due care while unfit through drink, and causing death by driving a vehicle unlicensed and uninsured.

“He is due to appear at Yeovil Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 6 October.

“It follows the collision on the A361 in January. Alfie Belcher, 20, was a passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His family continue to be updated and supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.”
