A COMMUNITY bike project has donated £8,500 to the Frome’s Missing Links campaign this year.

The aim of the Frome Community Bike Project (FCBP) has been to donate their profits to Frome’s Missing Links (FML), and help support the extension of traffic free routes around Frome.

This financial year they donated £1500 to their Crowdfunder campaign and a further £7,000 in April.

Ruth Knagg, FML trustee, said “Our trustee group were astonished to be told how much the Bike Project were donating. We thought that they would only be able to cover their own operating costs for a good few years before they would be in a position to donate profits.

“It's utterly marvellous, because we have an ongoing need to raise funds to complete remaining missing sections of off-road cycle paths which will make both riding and walking around Frome much safer and more fun. Thank you so much to everyone involved at FCBP.”

Frome Community Bike Project is a local, non-profit bike recycling centre and community hub dedicated to making cycling more accessible to everyone. They recycle, repair, and sell bikes, while also offering community events, training and support to help people of all ages and abilities enjoy cycling.

Having only been fully operational since January 2024, this is the first time that FCBP has been able to donate to Frome’s Missing Links.

Emma Parker, FCBP director, said “We are absolutely overjoyed to be able to make this donation to Frome’s Missing Links. Our volunteers have worked incredibly hard to make FCBP a success and the support of the community has been amazing.

“We’re looking forward to another successful year and have lots of plans to continue supporting and encouraging cycling in Frome.”
