A CHILD was injured in a Frome playpark after a swing became detached from its fixings.

The swing at the Old Showfield play area received its weekly inspection by Frome Town Council just days before the incident with no issues identified.

Frome town clerk, Peter Wheelhouse said: “As a precautionary measure, our Ranger team have removed the swing while we carry out further investigations.

“The swing will only be reinstalled once we are completely satisfied that it is safe to do so.”

The matter has been reported to Avon & Somerset Police.

The town clerk added: “We would encourage residents to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour, vandalism or suspicious activity either by phone on 101 (or 999 in an emergency) or via the Police website.”
