The wonderful sounds of Writhlington School Band set the scene for the Writhlington Village Hall Fete last Saturday.

In spite of a windy afternoon, it was pleasant to be outside enjoying all the attractions in the field. Everyone had fun at this traditional family day out. The organisers will consider an earlier start next year to enjoy even more activities.

The huge amount of homecooked cakes, quiche and apple pie were much appreciated, as was the BBQ provided by Phil Day butchers. Adrian Dando judged the Fancy Dress competition and children enjoyed the two bouncy castles and inflatable bikes.

The hardworking committee would like to thank everyone who contributed to raffle prizes, tombola prizes, cakes, car boot entries and everyone who came to support us. Suzanne Fussell
