Paulton community pulled together last week thanks to the efforts of Shandy Udell who organised a Macmillan Coffee Morning at Paulton Scout Hall, raising over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Shandy told The Journal: “My idea of holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning on September 30th started off really small. I wanted to show my appreciation to such a wonderful charity who I couldn’t have done without after my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2020.
“Unfortunately, he passed away September 2021 but Macmillan Cancer staff were so supportive all the way through the worse year of my life.
“I wanted to raise as much as I could to support them and I could not believe how generous all my family, friends, local businesses and strangers were with donations, raffle prizes and home made cakes.
“The coffee morning was a massive success bringing many people together for coffee and chat; it was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves but most of all raising a fantastic amount of £1,350 (and still counting) for Macmillan cancer, such a worthwhile charity so close to so many people’s hearts.
“I would also like to thank all my wonderful helpers who worked so hard to make our coffee morning such an amazing event...I couldnt have dreamed of raising so much.
“Thanks again to everyone who came to support me.”
