GREEN Party leadership candidates are set to attend the South West regional hustings in Bath, where members will have the opportunity to hear their visions and ask questions about the future direction of the party.
On Sunday, July 20, candidates will gather in Bath for the Party’s South West hustings—a three-hour session giving members the opportunity to question those seeking to shape the future of the Green Party and the wider progressive movement in England and Wales.
Zack Polanski, member of the London Assembly who is standing for leader, said: “I’m really looking forward to speaking to members in Bath. The Green Party in the South West is going from strength to strength and I'll be laying out how we can win many more MPs with a bolder Green Party”.
Ellie Chowns, MP for North Herefordshire, who is running with Adrian Ramsay as co-leader, said, "It's been incredibly exciting to see the Green Party's landmark breakthroughs in the West of England. As with all of our recent success, this has been built on the trust we've built and the difference people can see that Green councillors across the region - and now a brilliant Green MP in Bristol! - are making.”
Bath and North East Somerset has experienced strong growth in the Green vote since the pandemic, along with the wider South West region, leading to council seats across all councils in the area.
BaNES Green Party Chair, Michael Coffey said, “It’s fantastic to be hosting the Green Leadership hustings here in Bath; it’s testimony to a significant rise in our local membership and the impact our Green councillors are having on BaNES Council and in their local communities. There’s a real buzz about what we’re achieving here.”
