RESIDENTS of Peasedown St John have said that access to healthcare services is their top priority after answering a survey conducted across the village.

Organised by Peasedown’s local Bath & North East Somerset councillors Karen Walker and Gavin Heathcote (Independents), residents were asked for their views on a wide range of issues.

Conducted over the summer, every home was given a copy of the survey to fill out.

Results from the survey showed that 50 per cent of respondents said that access to quality, local, healthcare was most important to them. Thirty-three per cent of residents also rated recycling and waste, road repairs and public transport as being a top priority for the local community.

When asked about what residents would like to see improved about getting around the village, the top answer was the condition of roads and pavements, specifically relating to an increase to resurfacing, repair, and investment.

Regarding a question asking what one thing residents would like to see their local councillors work on, answers included the state of the roads, cleanliness and a better use of litter bins.

Cllrs Walker and Heathcote said: “Local people’s views matter. As local councillors we’re always keen to engage with residents and receive their feedback on local services, how their council tax is being spent and what improvements they’d like to see in their village.

“The responses to the survey will help shape what priorities we’re able to take forward, both here in Peasedown and at the Guildhall in Bath.

“We’re grateful to everyone who completed the survey and shared with us the issues that matter most to them.

“It’s important that local people are able to take part in regular consultations and residents’ surveys like this one. Each survey return will help us to focus on what priorities matter most to residents over the next two years.”
