Kilmersdon Gardeners: Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 10th January starting at 7.30pm in Kilmersdon Village Hall BA3 5TD. Visitors welcome, refreshments and raffle available.

Our speaker this month is Amanda Hirst who will be talking to us about a local person she is deeply involved with in Shepton Mallet, James Allen, (1830 – 1906) The Snowdrop King, and his enthusiasm for breeding snowdrops. James lived in, and is buried in Shepton Mallet.  James Allen was passionate about the snowdrop, a self-taught horticulturalist and the first person to breed new varieties from wild snowdrops

Today, his work is honoured by a like minded group of snowdrop lovers who started up the Shepton Mallet Snowdrop days as well as the planting of the wonderful individual snowdrops we see at Shepton Mallet.
