The museum was filled with sparkling lights, sparkling costumes and a carnival atmosphere during half-term when almost 200 attended the Carnival themed family event.

Newly-crowned Midsomer Norton Carnival Queen, ten-year-old Shyla Hagen, was on hand to lead a procession of children wearing Carnival King and Queen crowns, which they had made during the event.

This was Shyla’s first engagement as 2019 Carnival Queen, and she chose and presented the children with the best King crown and Queen crown with prizes generously donated by Radco.

The event also saw the Somerset Carnival Van visit, with families having a chance to go inside to be treated to entertainment. The Somerset Carnival team also brought piles of costumes for the children to try on and pose for photos on the mock carnival float.

The museum’s Education Team volunteers prepared and helped children to make all kinds of wonderful carnival props, including masks, shakers, clowns and miniature carnival floats.

The next family event is the free Christmas pantomime themed event on Saturday, 30th November from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and museum volunteers are looking forward to seeing you then! Visit: radstockmuseum.co.uk for details.
