David Cameron once said, “business is the lifeblood of our economy.” So should the Liberal incentive to bring a fair tax help, or hinder, large companies, and small to medium sized enterprises?

Wera Hobhouse MP, feels it will be beneficial for all: “It's crucial that companies and businesses pay their fair share of tax and I'm pleased that our Lib Dem-led Council has shown their commitment to this.

“Obviously business tax shouldn't be punitive, but profitable companies should pay their fair share of tax where they operate.

“It is not right that they can unfairly shift their profits to overseas tax havens. Especially whilst people are being hit with soaring cost of living.

"The Lib Dems would close loopholes that allow companies to avoid UK tax, whilst creating a business tax system to encourage productive investment and empower responsible companies to grow.

“The Conservative Government has shown where their priorities lie in their failure to crack down on corporate tax avoidance.”

The Conservatives were unavailable to comment on the matter.
