At the Town Council meeting last night, locations for speed cameras in Midsomer Norton were discussed.
It was decided that no new locations would be added to the list of current mobile speed camera points in Midsomer Norton.
The Town Council have their own speed camera which they use to monitor speeding offences in the area, which gets moved to different locations throughout the town through the year.
The speed camera was placed along Radstock Road on 3rd January 2023 and will next be moved to Thicket Road/West Road from the 14th of this month.
The camera will be moved again in March, to track speeds on Northmead Road, from the 28th.
Avon and Somerset Police also cover a number of places with mobile speed camera vans in Midsomer Norton.
These are guidelines only. Avon and Somerset Police say on their website: "Please note that enforcement may take place at any location within the Avon and Somerset Constabulary area."
There are three fixed speed cameras in our local area; one in Writhlington on Frome Road (A362), another in Temple Cloud on Paulwood Road (A37), and one in Farmborough on Bath Road (A39).
It is against the law to drive at a speed above the set limit. To avoid being caught, motorists should be aware of the speed limits set and drive within them.
