CELEBRATIONS have been in full swing at Bloomfield Care Centre at Paulton, as one of its residents reached his centenary in style.
Resident Brian was joined by family, friends and care home residents and staff as he received congratulatory wishes from the King in recognition of his landmark birthday.
An afternoon tea was held at the home with a buffet and cake to mark the occasion.
Born in 1926, Brian grew up in the local area and went on to have a successful career at the BBC in engineering, retiring in 1986. His time with the BBC was very meaningful to him, and he enjoys reminiscing about his career and life experiences.

As a child, he was a choir boy, a memory he recalls with pride. A place of personal importance to Brian is Temple Cloud in the Chew Valley, which holds strong emotional significance and is often mentioned in his conversations.
He shares fond memories of the people and places that have shaped his life before coming to Bloomfield Care Centre.
Brian found love later in life but has been happily married for 34 years, something he considers one of his greatest joys. Among those relatives attending was Brian’s wife, Primrose, who played host for the afternoon to many guests.

Speaking about her centenarian husband, Primrose said: “Brian is and has been a fantastic husband and friend to so many over the past hundred years, and it’s wonderful to be with him on this very special day to say just how proud he makes us feel.”
General manager at Bloomfield Care Centre, Jing Wen, added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable man as he reaches this amazing milestone.
“Brian is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more as he breaks into his next century.”
