A Westfield mother and her family coming to terms with the sudden death of her pregnant daughter will be holding a fundraiser to pay for a bench in her memory.

29-year-old mother of two, Kirsty Bridges, tragically died in her sleep from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS) at the end of June 2015, whilst 21 weeks pregnant with a little boy.

Kirsty’s two daughters, Chloe and Lacey Harris, aged seven and four, moved from the home they shared with their mother in Keynsham to live with their grandparents, Nicola and Alan Matthews, in Westfield.

The fundraiser, which is due to be held on Saturday, 28th January at Westhill Sports Club, aims to raise enough money to pay for a bench in Kirsty’s name in Keynsham Memorial Park, where she spent many happy hours with her daughters.

Kirsty’s mother, Nicola, said: “We need the bench so that Kirsty’s daughters, Chloe and Lacey, and everyone who knew and loved her have somewhere they can go to remember her. It would be nice for the girls, especially on special days like Mother’s Day and her birthday.

“She was a real ray of sunshine and would brighten our day.

“She was a cheerful, bright girl, and it is very much like a light has gone out in our lives. I still feel like I am talking about someone else’s daughter.

“Her death has been devastating, and has left a huge gap in our lives, but I am determined that Kirsty’s memory will be honoured.”

The bench to remember Kirsty will cost £1,500, which will include installation, a plaque, and maintenance by the Council for the next ten years.

The fundraiser starts at 7 p.m. with a disco and a raffle and runs until midnight with all proceeds going to the memorial bench fund.
