ALIENS Carnival Club celebrated a major milestone of 30 years in carnival performing with their eye-catching cart Wild West during the 2025 Somerset Carnival season.

The cart, themed around an American Wild West town complete with saloon, bank and jail, saw club members young and old dancing their way through eight carnival processions to Riding Alone by Rednex.

One of the highlights of the season was taking part in Midsomer Norton Carnival on November 10.

A club spokesperson said: “As the club’s home-town procession, it is always a special night, and despite the cold weather, the crowds were wonderfully supportive and appreciative of all the entries.”

Aliens Carnival Club are currently Midsomer Norton’s only feature carnival club and are based at Prattens Social Club in Westfield.

Now the club is busy preparing for the 2026 carnival season, with this year’s theme chosen, and building and costume-making well underway. It prides itself on being a friendly, family-focused community, welcoming new members of all ages and abilities.

There are countless ways to get involved, including painting, engineering, performing, costume-making, woodwork, fundraising, electrics, designing, choreography, make-up and more.

A club spokesperson said: “We took part in the Somerset County carnival circuit last year and are always open to new members of all ages. Whether you have skills to share or would like to learn something new, there really is a place for everyone.”

The group recently received a grant from The Sperring Charity for more than £500 to fund hi-viz jackets for members. Fundraising efforts continue with monthly Bingo nights at Prattens Social Club on May 2 and June 6, with all ages welcome.

A Jumble Sale is also being held on May 9 at the social club, from 2pm to 4pm with 100 Club, Monthly Meat Raffle and a New Hamper Raffle coming soon.
