Persimmon Homes say they are preparing a planning application opposite the current Beauchamp Avenue estate on the A367 for up to 190 homes.

The site falls in Mendip District Council’s remit and comprises of sixteen acres of agricultural land located on the southern edge of Westfield.

The site has already been identified in Mendip’s Local Plan, with Midsomer Norton and the Parishes of Westfield and Stratton on the Fosse all speaking out about the impact that new housing developments on their borders are having on local services and traffic.

The proposals at this stage are for a mix of properties – two, three and four bed homes, typically of 2 to 2.5 storey high. So far, Persimmon are looking at providing play and open space and pedestrian and cycle connections from the development.
