RADSTOCK Town Council is asking for resident’s views on the Southfield Recreation Ground as part of an online survey.

The recreational space is held in trust for the community, with Radstock Town Council acting as Sole Trustee.

As a separate charity, the Trust must follow charity law and currently has minimal funds, relying heavily on grants and support from other sources to operate.

It says the play equipment on the green space which was replaced seven years ago, has now largely failed play-inspections and needs replacing.

A Town Council grant has been secured with Trustees proposing to replace the basket swing and multi-play unit, and exploring a new multi-bay swing set for children of different ages and abilities.

They add that the BMX track on site is beyond economical repair, but current funding does not provide a solution to what happens next with that asset.

The Trust has published a survey online to better understand what the community would like to see happen next with the site, and residents, families and young people are invited to feedback their view by completing the survey.

The survey takes just a few moments to fill out and asks questions around how the recreation ground is used, how visitors arrive at the park and and the experience of their visit including the park’s cleanliness.

Respondents are also being asked to view two images of swing sets and leave their feedback on multiple types of play equipment.

An open box is also included for people to leave suggestions of their own.

A spokesperson said: “Any improvements are aspirational at this stage and future improvements will depend on securing external grants, donations, sponsorship, or other funding.

“Thank you for supporting Southfield Recreation Ground Trust and helping us plan for the future.

“We welcome your views.”

The survey deadline is September 30 and can be found on the Radstock Town Council website.
