A NEW wayfinding project has been introduced in Radstock as part of ongoing efforts to regenerate the town centre.
Featuring fingerposts, information boards and walking maps, the scheme aims to improve navigation, support active travel, and celebrate the town’s heritage.
The project introduces a series of fingerposts, information boards and walking maps designed to improve navigation, promote active travel and reflect Radstock’s heritage.
It forms part of the Radstock Town Centre Regeneration Action Plan, developed in partnership with Bath & North East Somerset Council, which sets out planned improvements to local infrastructure to support a more accessible and active town centre.
Councillor Chris Dando, mayor of Radstock Town Council, said: “The wayfinding project has enabled us to bring together the issues identified in the Town Centre Regeneration Action Plan and helped us work with the Active Way, local groups, and residents to provide beautifully created maps and fingerposts that work with the new branding, provide key infrastructure for the town, and help to improve accessibility for everyone.”
The project was made possible through funding support from the West of England Combined Authority’s Housing and Regeneration Enabling Fund, which supports local authorities in delivering infrastructure that unlocks housing and regeneration opportunities.
Additional funding was provided by the UK government through the Active Way, a programme aimed at encouraging walking, cycling and other forms of sustainable transport. Together, these contributions enabled the development and installation of the wayfinding infrastructure in Radstock town centre.
The town council hopes that the enhancements delivered through the wayfinding project will be enjoyed by both residents and visitors, fostering a greater appreciation for Radstock’s unique character and natural beauty and a nod to its heritage with the iconic wheel at the top of the finger posts.
