The sun continues to shine and the ground continues to bake. Unprecedented weather which, if you are at least forty six years of age you will recall the summer of ‘76.
In blistering heat, seventy two players teed up for a two man Texas Scramble. The winning duo of Martin Hares and Phil Toogood came in with a net sixty which included an eagle three on the par five ninth hole.
Runners up on net sixty one were Steve Brixey and Tony Thorp who despite seven birdies sadly bogeyed the final three holes.
In third place were Mike Mahoney and Jim (NB) Farmer with a net sixty three. Their undoing were six bogeys in the round.
Full Results: First place was Martin Hares/Phil Toogood sixty; second went to Steve Brixey/Tony Thorp with sixty one; third place was Jim Farmer/Mike Mahoney with sixty three; fourth was Dave Brain/Mark Howell with sixty three; fifth Charles Bentley/ Steve Symonds sixty three and sixth was Mike Astle/Colin Glibbery with sixty four.
Friendly match away to The Kendleshire was a loss by the odd game in seven.
