Popular TV presenter, Martin Roberts, will be opening Paulton’s Party in the Park at 2 p.m. on Saturday, 1st July in the Memorial Park. Martin is the presenter of the BBC show, Homes Under the Hammer and has also written a series of children’s books. He has lived in Paulton for many years with his family.
George Batchelar, Chair of the Organising Committee for Party in the Park, said: “We are delighted to have our event opened by Martin Roberts, who is well-known both locally and nationally. His appearance will put our Party on course to attract as many people as it has done in previous years; all set for an afternoon and evening of enjoyment.”
This year’s Party, which is free to enter, will feature local bands, Call the Shots, who will play in the evening, beginning at 5.15 p.m. and Parfanon at 6.45 p.m.
During the afternoon, there will be displays by the Stardust Majorettes, Paulton Infants School, Jamie Woodland’s Martial Arts and Boogie Bounce Extreme. Camvale Tennis Club and Paulton Netball Club will be demonstrating their sporting skills, and there will be visits from vintage and classic cars and the Harness Goat Society. Purnell Sports FC will be presenting a penalty shoot-out competition, and there will be a bouncy castle. Refreshments will be provided in the form of a beer tent, ice-cream vans and the Paulton Hub, as well as burgers by Dave ‘Jumbo’ Wilcox. Cream teas will be available in the Village Hall, on what promises to be a memorable afternoon. John Bull
