People living in and around the villages of Wellow and Foxcote are being invited to upcoming festive ‘Carols by Candlelight’ services at their local Anglican churches.

The annual events in both villages will feature traditional presentations of Nine Lessons, which will explore the Christmas message, as told in the Bible.

The services will be held completely under candlelight.

Vicar of both churches, the Revd Matthew Street said: “Carols by Candlelight includes readings from the Bible in an effort to explore the reason why we celebrate Christmas every year.

This traditional occasion is ideal for the family in the run up to the festive season.”

Carols by Candlelight services will be held:

  • At St James’ Church, Foxcote, on Sunday 17th December at 4.30pm
  • At St Julian’s Church, Wellow, on Sunday 17th December at 6.30pm

Both churches are part of the ‘St J’s Group’ Anglican benefice, which covers the parish churches of St John's Peasedown, St Julian's Wellow, St James' Foxcote and St Julian's Shoscombe and is named after our three patron saints.
