Somer Valley FM, the local radio station for North East Somerset, based in Midsomer Norton, is seeking new partners, reporters and producers for 2022.

Richard Burgess, Station Manager, said: “During the last year we have really developed our sound, with more presenters, longer broadcasting hours, and increased show variety. Happily, this has reflected in our listener numners increasing.

“But who wants to stand still? We’ve presenters featured on local BBC stations, and Seb Bailey, who hosted a BBC Radio 1 show over the New Year, has been invited back to present more shows in April.

“All we seek from new volunteers is enthusiasm and commitment. If you have a desire to be involved with radio, either in front of behind the mic, a passion for specialist features or a musical genre, we will help do the rest.”

In 2021, fourteen new volunteers were trained at Somer Valley, which culminated in a variety of new shows, including regular Breakfast and Brunch hosts, late night DJ sets, specialist Business and History programmes, local news features, complemented by additional production support.

Richard continued: “We will train you on how to plan a show, and present it – and who knows where that could take you?”
