Here at the Fosseway Bowls Club we always know when the end of the Bowls season is fast approaching – it’s the start of our Floodlit Competitions.

These have been known, in previous years, to be played in the freezing cold or pouring rain, or even both! But not this year!

Last week, we played for the Janet Norman Trophy in lovely, warm, sunny conditions, no sign of ‘wets’ or even jumpers.

Twelve teams of Triples started last Tuesday evening in the first of four games to be played over two nights in a Round Robin format. The top four teams at the end of Wednesday night were invited back to play the Semi-Final, with the Final on Thursday evening.

The eventual winners, pictured looking a bit weary after three nights of hard-fought competitive games, were ‘Royal’ Reg Morgan, Stewart Macfarlane and Clive Norman

(centre). It was very fitting for Clive to win this competition, as he is the sponsor of it, having introduced it some years ago in memory of his late wife.

Let’s hope the weather stays fine for this weekend when it is our ‘Grand Finals’.

Who will be our new Champions? Who will once again have to wait another year for glory? Hopefully, all will be revealed next week!
