Well, what a peculiar start to the bowls season for Norwest. On Tuesday, our ladies welcomed the ladies of Keynsham to our green for their first league game of the season, but unfortunately, they had to abandon the game as the green was white!
Although we started off in sunshine, after only a few ends, play was stopped as the green completely disappeared under a thick layer of hailstones. Very sensibly, the ladies retired to the clubhouse for a nice warming cuppa and currant buns.
On Thursday, we were due to play the Westbourne Ladies, but that was also cancelled, so it has not been a brilliant start.
And what about the Men? How did they fare? Well not that great, either. They lost their first game on Wednesday, against Bloomfield, while Friday’s game against Shepton Mallet was cancelled and on Saturday, while playing Yeovil, although they drew on rinks, they lost overall on shots.
So where do we go from here? To Weymouth, of course. That’s all we need, a bit of rest and relaxation on our annual bowls tour and we’ll be back fighting fit and raring to go.
