Saturday evening saw the climax of Norwest Bowls Club’s winter skittle league, when we met up at the clubhouse for our fish and chip supper, after which the league is named. It was a brilliant evening, much enjoyed by all, judging from the amount of chat and laughter.
Once again our thanks go to Keith and Dennis, for running the league and Josh, our sticker-up, great job, lads. We also have to thank Sue, Doris, Joan and Mary, for organising the food and all those who took a turn behind the bar. The Whitstone’s Skittle Cup for the winners of the knockout competition went to Aaron’s team, the Number 1’s and Aaron also had the highest score of 64 pins. There were 34 spares and a total of 12,833 pins knocked down! Thanks also to Whitstone’s – the fish and chips were scrumptious as usual.
All being well and weather permitting, our green opened on Monday, and lots of you will have given your woods their first airing of the season. Our ladies plan to have two roll-up sessions, the first was on Tuesday, but the second will be on Thursday afternoon, from 2.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m., so if you would like to join them, please do – we’ll even let some of the men join in!
Please could you all try to get your competition slips in to Mary as soon as possible, as our Triples competition is on Sunday, 8th May and Rex needs to let players know before they go on tour. Don’t forget President’s Day on Sunday and fingers crossed for a bit of sunshine!
