It was a quiet week for Prattens Bowls Club. The Men’s team made their start in the Charity Cup Competition by playing Purnell at Norwest Bowls Club.

This competition is played towards the end of the season each year between Purnell, Prattens, Paulton, and a team from Frome made up of members from Frome Selwood and Frome Park Bowls Clubs, and all games are played under floodlights. Proceeds from each game are donated to charity.

Prattens managed to win on one rink and draw on another rink, but Purnell won on the other three rinks and drew on the other rink.

Purnell therefore had seven points and Prattens three points.

The Ladies team played on Tuesday in the Wild League against Street, but lost on all three rinks; Prattens scoring 32 shots, but Street managed 62 shots. All twelve points available went to Street.

On Thursday afternoon, the Ladies’ game in the Wild League against Frome Park was cancelled and Prattens were awarded nine points.

There were no weekend fixtures last weekend due to the Bank Holiday.
