Well, where, oh where, did the last few months go? It seems only yesterday that I was polishing my woods and donning my club shirt for the first roll-up of the 2018 season, and here we are, with only days to go until it’s time to tuck the woods up for their winter hibernation.
This coming weekend will see our members battling it out for the silverware at Finals weekend, while the following Sunday, the green will be hosting its last game of the season: the ever popular Captain’s Day.
Now for this week’s results: overall it’s not a very rosy picture. It started well with our Ladies playing a North Somerset League game at home against Bloomfield and winning all ten points with a scoreline of 66–25! After that, it would seem, it was downhill all the way.
On Wednesday, a Mixed team went to Imperial, where they lost by ten shots, with the Lads also playing two Charity Floodlight games this week. The first was at Home on Thursday against Prattens, which they lost 6–4, while on Friday, they played at Purnell against Frome PS, which they lost 8–2. I don’t have results for a couple of other games played, but I understand that they also added to our tally of losses.
Perhaps we all need a rest after the long, hot season!
