Now that Christmas and the New Year celebrations are well and truly over and life has settled down a bit, it’s nice to be able to sit back and take a breather, but don’t get too comfy, because there are still things going on at Norwest.
Our three resident skittle teams are still doing battle in the Paulton and District League, as are the two Cribbage teams who call Norwest home. I know some of you are struggling a bit this season, but there’s still plenty of time left, so keep at it and I’ve got my fingers crossed for you. The Friday night skittles is going great guns under the watchful eyes of Keith and Dennis. Don’t forget you’re always welcome to come along, have a couple of drinks and a bit of banter – even if you don’t play skittles.
Last week I gave you some dates for your diaries and further to these I have some more information. Due to a clash of dates, the Beetle Drive will now be a week earlier, and is now on Saturday, 21st January at 7.30 p.m., so make sure you alter it in your diary and I would be grateful if you could spread the word to other members.
I also have a message from Ann Woodham concerning the Sunday lunch on January 29th. Please can you make sure you give her a call on: 01761 436017 to book your lunch, otherwise you’ll be going hungry!
This one’s a bit different – it’s not for Norwest members, but for all the other lady bowlers in the area. We were very disappointed last year when due to illness, holidays and a general lack of support, we had to cancel our Ladies Tournament. This year it will be on Wednesday, 5th July, so come on girls, get the date in your diary and come along and support us. In the past, it has always been a great success with a really competitive but friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
It’s a great way to catch up with friends from other clubs while enjoying a great day playing bowls. If you’re interested and would like further information or want to enter a team, please can you ring Mary Harston on: 01761 416974 and once again, if you know of any lady bowlers who might be interested, I would be grateful if you could please pass this message on.
