Captain’s Day and the sun continued to shine. After a well contested game, the Captain’s team beat the President’s team by a total of four shots.

The players on the winning rink, Yvonne Phillips, Stewart Macfarlane and Clive Norman, were presented with bottles of wine, as were the runners-up, Tony Thomas and Thelma Chun. Marion Allen won the bottle of whiskey for the ‘Spider’.

The match was followed by a two-course meal, which was enjoyed by all (well, there were no complaints), and then the Captain, Dave Cocks, presented bouquets to the “girls” who had helped with the food and bar throughout the season and a bottle of Whiskey to Dave Yarlett for his work on competitions. He also thanked Thelma and Mike Chun for their continued cleaning of the loos!

Earlier in the week, the Ladies had a win in a Friendly against Purnell Ladies, thus finishing the season on a positive note.

We are now looking forward to a fun afternoon on Monday, 4th October, when Terry and Yvonne Phillips will be organising an “Aussie Pairs” game. DN
