Readers, I would like to draw your attention to Lawn Bowling. Restrictions have eased somewhat now, but during the past year I feel Lawn Bowls has become a forgotten sport.
Restrictions to the number of players on a team there may be, but at least we can get out on the grass and into the fresh air to play this sociable, healthy game.
It is to this end that Alexandra Bowling Club in Bath is involved in a drive to get more people into the game. We are involved in a country wide weekend where we are inviting people to come along and have a go!
This is not a sport, as has been long imagined, for the elderly; many young people and teams composed of younger people drawn from different counties have succeeded in winning medals for our country at the Commonwealth Games and will probably do so again in 2022.
This is one of the few sports where a family can take part (including children) and it is ideal for people who either do not like contact sports, or who can no longer take part in them.
Try something different and come along – bring your friends. Wear comfy clothes, a flat soled pair of shoes if you have them – don’t worry if you haven’t. We have the bowls so that you can have a go. All are welcome, but children should be accompanied by an adult.
Join us at Alexandra Bowling Club, Alexandra Park, Bath on Monday, 31st May from 10 am until 4 pm. For further information, contact: 0117 9864866 where you can also book a slot so that we do not become overcrowded. Visit: www.alexandrabowlsbath.co.uk
