Following on from various winter social events at the club, Fosseway Bowls Club held its final 2016 event on Friday, when the annual Christmas dinner and carol evening was enjoyed by well over fifty members and guests.

The clubhouse had been completely transformed with the essential tree and and decorations giving it the air of the festive season.

When members arrived, they were greeted by Club President, Clive, who served them with a complimentary drink of either sherry or Bucks Fizz.

Comments from everyone as they arrived centred on the amazing aromas emanating from the kitchen. Once again, Tony and Celia, who had been at the club for hours previous to members’ arrival, were busy preparing another wonderful three course Christmas meal.

Many Christmas cards were exchanged amidst the melee of trying to get to the bar, where Ray, resplendent in his Christmas sweater, was kept extremely busy. Before the meal was served, Grace was presented by Ladies’ Captain, Carole.

To the sound of crackers being pulled and wine being poured, the evening began with the serving of the starters, a choice of paté or egg mayonnaise. This was followed by a traditional turkey feast with Christmas pudding to end.

After the final carol was sung with tremendous gusto, Bob Jordan gave a vote of thanks in his usual genuine manner, to Tony, Celia and Ray.

Happy Christmas.
