The Fosseway Ladies played against Norwest Ladies on Tuesday. Fosseway were awarded the ten points, as one of the Norwest players did not turn up in time, so we played a friendly game.

The Men played a Mid-Somerset League match on Wednesday at Purnell, but lost on all rinks. On Saturday they played Purnell again in the County League and won on one rink, drew on one rink, lost on one, and lost overall, so only won three points.

The Ladies have had a very busy week. On Thursday, they visited Bloomfield in the North Somerset League, winning on two of the three rinks, and so picking up eight of the ten points.

On Friday, it was the Fear Plate competition. The weather was very wet, but we decided to try and play. We got to ten ends and we were all like drowned rats, so we came off and had tea. The rain didn’t give up, and as we were well in the lead on two rinks and drawing on the third, Shepton Mallet conceded and gave us the game. We now have to play Purnell Ladies in the next round.

On Saturday, the weather wasn’t much better when we started playing the Southey Cup second round against Alexandra Park, Bath. The weather brightened a little, but we still needed our wet gear on. We won the Singles and the Pairs, but lost on the Triples and the Fours. But because our Pairs and Single won by a big margin, it was enough for us to win overall, 80 shots to 62. So well done Ladies, through to another round.

The Club Open Mixed Triples were played on Sunday morning and after a superb lunch, the three winning teams and best loser played. The result sees Dave Cocks, Steve Watson and Anne Morgan go through to play Reg Morgan, Richard Andrews and Thelma Chun on Finals Weekend.

Don’t forget the Centurion Cup Challenge next Saturday and Sunday. We need a few more names to make this a good weekend. So put your names down.
