Oops, I’ve really done it this time! As I’m sure most of you know, for several years now I have been responsible for compiling and printing the Norwest Bowls Club fixture lists and every year, there have been some mistakes which members are always very keen to point out.
Well, this year they are going to have a field day!
Apparently, for our bowls tour this year, the chaps are going to the Isle of Wight, while our Ladies will be off to Weymouth! While this was met with great approval by some of our lads, I’m afraid that I have to disappoint them, as it’s just my mistake and we’ll all be going to the Isle of Wight.
Secondly, while it appears the lads will be enjoying two fun days, the girls will have to content themselves with one! Not so – it is just the one for everyone and it is on Sunday, 6th August. As I’ve had so many questions about this already, I know you know the date, so we’ll be expecting to see you all there to support us. Lastly, there are a few members’ telephone numbers missing, for which I apologise to those concerned. So that’s it – confession over and all mistakes admitted to, but I’m sure you’ll all have the magnifying glasses out and prove me wrong on that as well. Perhaps the time has come for me to shut down my computer and hand over to someone less scatty, or, maybe it’s just that we need some new proof readers!
On a happier note, this Saturday sees the Fish and Chip Skittle League’s Annual Dinner. This is usually a great evening when we get to say thanks to Keith and Dennis for organising the skittles and enjoy a tasty fish and chip supper. Unfortunately, I won’t be with you – I’ll be in Weston-super-Mare resting in a darkened room and recovering from the stress of this year’s fixture list! So, have a great time and I’ll see you soon, hopefully when we meet on April 5th with our dusters, mops and rubber gloves for our pre-season spring cleaning session, so we can put a sparkle on things, ready for the start of the season in just two weeks’ time.
And finally, if you find any more mistakes on the fixture list, I really don’t want to know, but, if you’d like to volunteer for the job, then I’m all ears and I can promise you – the job’s yours!
