The first game of the week was the Mid-Somerset Men’s league game at home against Paulton on Wednesday evening. Although the game was close, Fosseway lost on all rinks, so we claimed no points.

The Ladies did better on Thursday when they entertained Keynsham in a North Somerset League game, where Fosseway won on two rinks, won overall and took eight of the ten points.

The Mid-Somerset Mixed League game on Friday at Prattens ended in a defeat for Fosseway, and Prattens claimed all twelve points.

The weather made a great change for our annual Alan Hobbs Trophy competition, with glorious sunshine on the Saturday. The competition was played over two days, culminating with the Semi-Finals on Sunday morning and the Final in the afternoon.

There was some excellent bowling on both days. The final game finished with the teams drawing 20/20 on the eighteenth end, forcing an extra end. Barry Andrews and Martin Long just managed to get the one shot to win against Keith Burchill and John Emm.

Well done to all who took part in this. A big thanks must be given to Dave Yarlett for organising this competition. Thanks to Carole Cocks and Sue Yarlett for keeping everyone supplied with sausage and bacon rolls, and also for Barb Jones and Della for serving drinks on both days.

Lastly, one of our ladies, Carole Jenner-Tims, has reached the Quarter-Finals of the Somerset County Singles competition. We wish Carole all the best and hope she keeps winning.
