Last week started for the Ladies with Weston Bath cancelling the game through lack of players. So, our first game was a Mendip League game on Thursday against Nailsea.
We managed to win well on one rink (29–4) but lost on the other two, still winning overall with 55 shots to 40 and 6 points.
On Friday we played our first Mixed MS League game against Street. We only managed to win on one rink, so claimed two of the twelve points on offer. The final score was 41 to Fosseway and 52 to Street.
The Ladies kept up their good work on Saturday morning, when we played the second round of the County Southey Cup. We didn’t have too far to travel, as we played against our friends at Purnell. We did very well, winning on the Singles, Pairs, and Triples and only losing by one shot on the Fours. The final score was 88 shots to Fosseway and 51 to Purnell. Purnell Ladies put on a magnificent buffet, which we were all thankful for after a very hard-fought game. Fosseway Ladies now have to play Bath in the Quarter-Finals on Sunday, 10th June. So, well done ladies, let’s try and keep it up!
The Men played a County League game on Saturday against Knowle C and only managed to win on one rink.
Fosseway are hosting the County Two Wood Competition on Monday, 4th June, so club night will be on Tuesday, same time as usual. There is still plenty of time for anyone to come and try the game of bowls. For details, contact Club Secretary, Ray Soby, on: 01761 453218 or pop up to the club.
