Fosseway’s Ladies have been successful in winning the Mendip League, where there has been strong opposition from other clubs, such as Isle of Wedmore, Nailsea, Weston Victoria, Wrington and Congresbury – all strong clubs. They are also in contention to gain top spot in the North Somerset League, with the final figures not yet available. Congratulations on this wonderful achievement.

Our Ladies also reached the Quarter-Finals of the Fear Cup, losing to Bath, even though winning on one rink.

Tony Cooper and Celia Soby have also been extremely successful in the County Mixed Pairs and will be playing in the final at Bloomfield Bowls Club.

The club finished fourth in the Friday evening MSL Mixed League, which is a good achievement, as it means that members who are not available for the other leagues have been able to play league games.

The Men failed to retain a place in the Premier Division of the Saturday County League, but it has been a good experience and some of the matches were quite close finishes.

In the Mid-Somerset League, our men finished mid-table.

On Friday, the club will be hosting the final of the MSL Mixed League commencing at 6.15 p.m. Visitors will be extremely welcome.

With the outdoor season nearly at the end, the two annual floodlit competitions are to be held followed by the club finals being played on 16th and 17th September and Captain’s Day on Sunday 25th.

However, this does not mean that the club closes for the winter months. Many social events etc. will be held to enable members to keep in contact.

Fosseway, being an extremely friendly club, would be pleased to hear from anyone wishing to take up the game of bowls next season. To find out more, just contact Club Secretary, Ray Soby, on: 01761 453218 or any club member.
