On Sunday, Prattens’ Ladies played Isle of Wedmore in the Final of the Fear Plate at Ashcombe (Weston-super-Mare).

The game is played over 21 ends and was all square at 55 shots each, after completion of those ends. An extra end had to be played to decide the game, and although Prattens won on two out of the three rinks, they lost overall by two shots. It was a very close game, and a great achievement for the Ladies team.

In the last of the Club competitions this year, Colin Love won the mixed Handicap, Pauline Dando was the Runner-Up.

Prattens’ Ladies played their last game of the season, a friendly against Isle of Wedmore. The game was hampered by bad weather and was finally abandoned after twelve ends. In the Charity Cup game against Norwest, Prattens won on three out of five rinks and gained six points from the game.

Captains’ Day was held on Saturday, with a Caribbean/Carnival theme. Following a very colourful and enjoyable afternoon of bowls skills, devised by Mens’ Captain, Richard Brimble, members enjoyed a tea in the clubhouse, which was hosted by Richard Brimble, Chris Love and Pauline and Barrie Dando. A vote of thanks was also given to Lin Brimble, Sue Smart and Colin Love for their help with the arrangements and catering.
