It was the Purnell Ladies who started the bowls club on a very good few days, after winning away to Frome Selwood on Thursday.
The Men’s A team travelled to Wedmore for the first Premier Two fixture of the season and came away with an emphatic 12 point win with an advantage of 86 to 41 shot difference. At home it was a mixed bag – the B team overcame Bath C, collecting all 12 points but the C team couldn’t cope with the strong Alexandra A team, losing 12–0.
On Sunday morning the Men travelled the short distance to Prattens in the National Top Club competition, their band of barmy army supporters there as usual. They managed to record a 4–1 win, but it is certainly not going to be easy in the next round away to the very strong Bristol team.
With the start of the County Competitions this week, the club is hoping for some long runs by their players. There is certainly a good buzz around the club at the moment! The club is still looking for new members and anyone from the age of ten to seventy can enjoy the benefits of free membership for a year, no rink fees when practising with no limits to how often you play from 10 a.m. to dusk. There is free coaching as well! Contact Don on: 01761 471019 or Bryn: 01761 471350.
