Prattens’ Ladies had two Wild League games this week. The first, away to Street, where Prattens won on two rinks, but lost on one, the overall score was 49 shots to 43 in favour of Prattens, which meant that Prattens gained ten out of twelve available points.
On Thursday, the Ladies were at home to Frome Selwood; Prattens were again the winners, gaining ten out of twelve points for the second time this week. The overall score was 52 shots to 48 in favour of Prattens, who won on two rinks and lost on one.
On Wednesday evening, Prattens’ Men were away to local rivals, Fosseway, in the Mid-Somerset League. In what turned out to be a very close game and despite winning on three rinks out of four, Prattens lost overall 65 shots to 69; this meant that Prattens gained six league points and Fosseway, ten points. During this game, Prattens’ players, Richard Brimble, Ian Pratten, Colin Love and Bernie Hunt, achieved a ‘hot shot’, which meant that they scored a maximum of eight shots in a single end; congratulations to all four players!
Sunday saw the Quarter-Finals of the Mixed Pairs Club Competition; the games were played in glorious sunshine and members enjoyed tea in the clubhouse afterwards.
In the coming week, Prattens’ Men play Chew Stoke in the Mid-Somerset League and Weston (Bath) B in the Somerset County League; the second round of the Tony Allcock Over-60’s National Two Fours Competition takes place on Friday at Castle Cary.
Don’t forget that Prattens hold regular club nights on Monday at 6 p.m. All are welcome to come along and try the game of bowls, just wear flat shoes. Bowls can be borrowed and coaching is available free of charge. If you are interested, but can’t make a Monday evening, please contact Barrie or Pauline Dando, on: 01761 412705, for details.
