Pratten’s ladies played their first Wild League game at Frome Park on Tuesday. Prattens won overall 45 shots to 37 after winning on one rink, drawing on one and losing on one. This gave them nine out of the twelve available League points. The Thursday friendly game against Stothert & Pitt was cancelled by the opposing team.
On Tuesday evening, the Prattens’ men travelled to Victoria (Weston-super-Mare) in the second round of the National two four competition. Unfortunately, Prattens lost on both rinks and will not progress further in this competition.
In their first Mid-Somerset League game on Wednesday evening, against local rivals Norwest, Prattens’ Men won on two rinks and lost on two; the overall score was Prattens 74 shots, Norwest 52 shots, because of the winning rinks and overall shot difference, Prattens picked up 12 of the 16 available League points.
In a mixed friendly on Saturday afternoon, at home to Wyrall Park (Glastonbury), Prattens won on one rink, but lost on the other three. However, the overall result was close, Prattens 72 shots, Wyrall Park 78.
The final game of the week was a mixed friendly on Sunday afternoon at Home to Ashcombe (Weston-super-Mare). In an even closer game than Saturday, Prattens won on one rink, drew on one rink, but lost on the other two. The overall result was Prattens 72 shots, Ashcombe 73. Don’t forget that Prattens hold regular club nights on Monday at 6 p.m. All are welcome to come along and try the game of bowls, just wear flat shoes.
