To start off the week, I have some brilliant news. Two of our men, Aaron Delamont and Dave Hill, after beating some stiff opposition, are in the Quarter-Finals of the Men’s County Unbadged competition.

Unfortunately, for the Quarter-Final match, they have been drawn out against each other, but whoever wins, it means that Norwest will have a bowler in a County Semi-Final! The game will be played this Friday, 19th August at Norwest, so please come along and support them, it should be a great, nail-biting game. Good luck to both of you and whoever wins, we’ll be right behind you, cheering you on in the Semi-Final.

Yes, we’ve done it! This week, I am pleased to report that the Ladies have won a game. On Tuesday we welcomed Frome Selwood to our green for a Wild League game and after a great afternoon’s bowling, we won ten of the twelve points on offer. It’s a bit late in the season to make any difference to our league position, but it was a great boost to our morale. Unfortunately, it was back to normal on Thursday, when the game was cancelled due to a lack of players.

On Friday, bowlers from Bath Bowls Club joined us at Norwest for a Mixed Mid-Somerset League game, which was played under the floodlights on a very pleasant evening. Bath fielded a strong team as usual, but we didn’t let them have it all their own way, as we took two of the twelve points on offer.

On Saturday our A team triumphed once again with a 10–2 win against Bath B, which sees them consolidate their place at the top of the County League East One. Keep it up lads, you’ve only got another two games to go. As the B team didn’t have a fixture, there was a men’s friendly game arranged away to Weston, Bath, which, although an enjoyable game, our boys lost. Ah, well lads, it was just a friendly and with two more league fixtures to go, save it for the important games!

Our other Mixed game of the week was away to Trowbridge Town. It was an enjoyable game and although we won on two rinks overall, Trowbridge fairly thrashed us on shots, however it was a super game, enjoyed by all.
