Where did it go? It seems amazing that there are less than four weeks to go until the end of this season and what an up and down season it’s been. We’ve had some brilliant wins and some disastrous defeats and this week has been no exception. Our ladies had two games in the Wild League, for the first on Tuesday, they were away to Frome Selwood where they claimed a 10–2 win. The second game, on Thursday the ladies of Shepton Mallet joined us at Norwest and went home with a hefty twelve points, leaving us with none. Ah, well girls, some you win and some you lose and of course there’s always next week.
The final game in the County League East competition was played at home on Saturday and saw our B team playing local rivals Purnell C and what a way to end! They finished the season with a brilliant 12–0 win. Both the A and B teams have done really well this year and will finish well up in the leagues. Well done boys. A brilliant effort.
The only other men’s game this week was a friendly against another local rival, Paulton, and although I’m sure it was a great game, the result remains a mystery as no one ever reports the midweek men’s results to me. Come on lads you know the phone number and email address – I can’t report it or put it on our website if I don’t know it!
Oh, what a very wet day it was on Sunday! Typical really, just back from holiday with loads of washing and it rains. It didn’t do much for our friendly game away to Wilton either, as that was rained off, the green being more suitable for ducks than bowls.
This coming week will see the start of the Floodlight Charity Bowls competitions, the first one will be held at Norwest on Thursday and will be played between the men of Prattens and Paulton. These games are great fun, played with great rivalry along with lots of banter and much laughter. The atmosphere is brilliant, so if you’re free why don’t you come along and enjoy a drink while enjoying a great evening’s entertainment.
