This year, to kick off the bowls season at Norwest, we are holding our Open Evenings on April 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th from 6 p.m. If you fancy trying your hand at bowling, just come along and we’ll lend you some woods and show you the ropes. If you just want to see what it’s all about, just come along for a chat. We’d love to meet you.
Maybe you can’t manage our Open Evenings, but would like to have a go. Did your little one start school or maybe playgroup in September? Do you find yourself at a loose end in the mornings, so end up with a group of friends for coffee, but feel that maybe you should be getting a bit of exercise instead? Well, Norwest ladies are thinking of running some coffee mornings to give people a taster of what the game is like and we thought maybe this might be a good idea, but we’d like to know what you think. Would you be interested? It’s not just for young mums, but anyone who’d be free of a morning and would like to come along. We haven’t fixed the dates yet, as we’d like to know if there’s any interest first, so give me a ring on: 01761 479310 for a chat and I’ll take your details and see what we can do.
Now, for the more seasoned bowlers: this year, our two OPEN competitions, the Jim Cowley Invitation 4s and the Ladies’ Tournament, will be held on Sunday, 11th June and Wednesday, 5th July respectively. These competitions are open to all bowlers in the area.
Unfortunately, last year, due to lack of support, both competitions had to be cancelled, so come on all you bowlers out there, come along and support Norwest and enjoy a great day into the bargain. You’ll get coffee and biscuits, lunch and afternoon tea with cake, as well as some very enjoyable bowling. There’s usually lots of chat, laughter and not a little rivalry between teams from local clubs, so what are you waiting for? If you’d like more information or to enter, for the Jim Cowley, ring Rex Padfield on: 01761 232142 and for the Ladies’ Tournament, ring Mary Hartson on: 01761 416974.
