It was on with the wets for the Ladies, on Tuesday, when they visited Weston, Bath, for their North Somerset League game. After such a long run, playing in such warm and sunny weather, the rain came as a bit of a surprise, but it didn’t dampen the ladies spirits, as both teams had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
It ended in a draw on shots, but with Norwest winning on points, claiming a 6-4 points victory, by winning on two rinks to one. Unfortunately, things changed on Thursday for their Wild League game away to Prattens. Although it was nice to see the sun again, the end result was not as good as we ended up with only one point of the twelve on offer.
Once again Prattens were the opponents when they joined our Men at Norwest for a Mid-Somerset League game, on Wednesday evening. It was a nice evening and after a hard-fought contest, Norwest came out victors, with a 14-2 point win. As with the Ladies, the lads second game of the week wasn’t so good and saw them lose heavily, when they visited Keynsham for a friendly, on Saturday afternoon, and just to round the week off nicely, out came the wets again, as half way through the game it started to drizzle.
Overall, it’s been a busy week at Norwest, with lots of our members out on the green playing their Club competitions, which have afforded the spectators some cracking games to watch. The 2018 tour list is still up, but you’ve only got a couple of days left to get your names up, and if we don’t get enough takers, there will be no tour next year.
Finally, just a reminder that this year’s Fun Day is on Sunday, 6th August at 2 p.m. Let’s make it a good one this year, as all the profits will be going to the Dorothy House Charity, in memory of Maggie, our club secretary and friend. So, come on, round up your family, friends and neighbours and make sure the date is in all your diaries.
