It’s been an incredibly busy week for Norwest with some mixed results.
Our ladies have had three games this week the first being our annual Round Robin competition, which took place on a super sunny Tuesday afternoon. We had nine competitors who included some of our newer ladies and saw Sue Woodham, one of our newest recruits, go through to the semi-final, along with Cilla Rich, Ann Woodham and little, old me! After two tough semi-final games I met Cilla in the final and managed to win through to claim the trophy,
The lads’ game, on Wednesday, was a friendly at home against Bloomfield, on a rather dreary evening and it finished with an unlucky thirteen shot loss. Their Saturday league games, once again, had similar score lines of 10–2, but as has happened before this season, one was a win and the other was not! Both games were at home with the A team playing Bath B and suffering the 2–10 defeat, while the B team played Imperial and claimed the 10–2 victory.
The Floodlight Charity league is now in full swing and Norwest has had a busy time with this. They played two games, both at Purnell, one on Tuesday, when they played a game against Prattens, which they won 4–1, while on Thursday, they played Frome PS, and again it was a win, but this time the score was 3½–1½. On Friday, it was Norwest’s turn to host one of the games and we welcomed Paulton and Purnell.
And so to the big one of the week, Sunday, on a very wet morning, the Norwest team, along with lots of supporters, headed into Bath for their County final in the Wedmore Plate competition. It was a tough-fought game against St Andrews from Weston-Super-Mare, but it just wasn’t to be for Norwest and the final victory went to St Andrews. Never mind lads, you did so well to get to the final and we’re all very proud of you. Thanks to Bath for their friendly welcome and great hospitality.
And finally, for those of you who are interested in going to Taunton next week to support Aaron in his Unbadged Final against Terry Priddle from Purnell. The game will take place on Sunday, 10th at 10 a.m., and I’m sure it will be a nail biter, so come on, let’s get along there and support our lad. Good Luck Aaron.
