On Saturday, we held our end-of-season Ladies meeting. We don’t have many lady members, but even so, we were a bit thin on the ground as several Ladies sent their apologies due to prior commitments. However, it was a good meeting, with some lively discussions, and when the business was finished, it was tea and cake all round.

Just because the bowls season has ended, it doesn’t mean that the place is deserted. The unsung heroes of the Men’s Working Party are hard at work, both on the green and in the clubhouse, doing all those jobs which keep the place together. They are also hard at work on the garden, which had become a bit like a jungle, but is now looking much better. Well done lads, keep up the good work.

We also have three of the Paulton and District Skittles League teams playing at Norwest, and two Cribbage teams. Last season their fortunes were very mixed, so we wish them well for brilliant results this time round.

We also have some social events planned, so here are some dates for your diaries:

• Saturday, 28th October: a Beetle Drive at 7.30 p.m, with an American supper and raffle, which should be great fun.

• Sunday, 5th November at 2.30 p.m. is the club’s AGM, a must for all members.

• Saturday, 18th November at 6.30 p.m. is our Presentation Evening, where members will enjoy a super dinner, followed by the presentation of trophies.

• Saturday, 25th November at 7.30 p.m.: quiz night with Cilla and Clayton, American supper and raffle.

• Saturday 16th December at 7 p.m.: American supper and Grand Christmas Draw. Tickets are on sale now!

All these events are hard work for the organisers, and great for the club, so don’t let them down, come along and bring your friends and have some fun. And just one last reminder, this time from Brian for our Men: don’t forget the Men’s Meeting is this Sunday, 15th October at 10.30 a.m, and it promises to be quite a lively one, so make sure you’re there to have your say!
