The big question on all Norwester’s lips this past week has been, “Will it or won’t it?”, and as I’m writing this on Sunday I’m afraid I can’t tell you if it did or didn’t, but by now you’ll all know anyway.

Yes, the hot topic was whether the green would open as planned, or if the good old British weather had turned our hallowed green into a soggy quagmire. Hopefully there were no hitches, and Monday evening saw lots of members out there having a bit of practice ready to show any newbies who came along to our open evenings how it’s supposed to be done.

It seems incredible that the seasons once again have run their course, and the skittle pins and balls are being packed away while the bowls woods and jacks are having their annual polish up, ready for action. At this point I’d just like to put in a word for the Paulton and District Skittles League. I know quite a few teams in the league are struggling for players, and the league itself would welcome new teams, so if you fancy a fun night out instead of just sitting in front of the ‘box’, why not take a look at their website: www.p-d-s-l.com. Whether you join a team or put in your own, I can assure you it’s good fun.

Now back to bowls. On Sunday, 22nd April its President’s Day, our first challenge of the new season (well perhaps not a challenge, more of fun afternoon where the luck of the draw is as important as skill).

So come on Norwester’s, let’s get out there and have some fun.
