It’s been a restful time for our Ladies this week, as both their games were cancelled by the opposing teams. Never mind girls, you’ve had a nice rest and you’ll be fighting fit for this week’s games.
On Wednesday, our Men were away to Frome Selwood for an MSL game which they won 13-3 by seven shots, while in the Mixed MSL game on Friday, again away, this time to Keynsham, we lost 12-0.
No League games for the chaps on Saturday, so instead they ventured forth to Glastonbury to play a friendly against Wyrral Park. The green was incredibly fast, and it would seem that our chaps never managed to tame it, which could account for the fact that they only won on one of the four rinks and lost overall.
On Sunday, a mixed team headed into Bath to meet old rivals and friends from Alexandra Park for a friendly. I wasn’t there myself, but I’m sure it was a brilliant afternoon at ‘Alex’, as always, and they carried the friendliness to new heights, with each team scoring 76 to draw the game.
It has not been the best week for some of our more adventurous bowlers, as in the National Singles competition Aaron lost his fourth-round game against A. Owens from Bath BC, while in the County Mixed-Pairs competition, Aaron teamed up with Pam and they also lost. Both games were extremely well-fought, with some excellent bowls being played, and we wish the winners well in their future rounds.
This Wednesday sees our lads playing away in the third round of the National Club Two Fours competition, when they meet Bristol Bowls Club. Good luck lads, we’ve got our fingers crossed!
