Well, what a magnificent turnout on Saturday night for our Jump into Christmas evening – you did us proud!

The scene was set for a jolly evening, with the fairy lights twinkling and the clubhouse decked with trimmings. We had ‘bouncing glitter balls’, ‘Christmas tree hoopla’ and ‘Splat the Snowman’, along with ‘Who’s in the Christmas jumper’ and lots more fun games.

The atmosphere was buzzing, and judging by the laughter, everyone had a great time. The buffet table held lots of sumptuous goodies, while the raffle table fairly groaned under the weight of all the prizes.

We had ten teams which certainly kept Ann busy with her marking pen; thanks Ann – great job as always. Thanks also to Mark, our barman, who did a roaring trade which certainly added to the Christmas spirit. But mostly, thank you to all who turned up to make the evening such a success.

The winning team of Anna and Dennis Albutt and Karen and Martin Jones – the ‘Beauties of Bath’, carried off the prizes while the most envied team of Cilla and Clayton Rich, Avis Heley and Penny Seviour of the ‘us four’ team, who proudly took possession of the coveted wooden spoons.

I’m pleased to say after my slip-up on our presentation evening, when I missed the Ladies’ Novice Competition, it gave me great pleasure to present Cilla Rich with the winner’s trophy and Jacky Everson with the runners-up trophy. Well done, girls, and sorry for the delay.

We also made a presentation to Mary after all her hard work and endless form filling-in, after our recent break-in. Norwest would also like to thank all who helped out in any way during this trying time.

Now for some news hot off the press: not sure how or why – I blame Mark for topping me up with too much Christmas cheer – but it would seem that I agreed, with Brian, to do a Valentine’s evening next February! So watch this space for the date to enter into your brand new 2019 diary.
