So, how was 2018 for you? Overall, as far as bowling was concerned, it was a good season, with the ‘wets’ staying firmly in the bowls bags.

Maybe our results could have been better, but that doesn’t mean the season was any less enjoyable, and as usual it was great to spend time with fellow bowlers and friends both old and new. 2018 saw Norwest Bowls Club celebrate its ninetieth birthday, and although we could do with a few more members, on the whole we are still going strong.

The year’s end was a trying time for Norwest, as we suffered a mini crime wave of burglary and vandalism. A huge thank you must go to everyone who helped out over this difficult time, and hopefully things will settle down and we will be able to enjoy some great bowling in 2019.

And now, for some dates to enter onto those pristine pages of your new 2019 diaries. Cilla and Clayton are busily working out some questions to tax all that grey matter which has been resting over the Christmas holidays. Their quiz night will be on Saturday, 26th January at 7.30-for-8 p.m., and there will be an American supper and raffle. It’s a great chance to recycle some of those misguided Christmas presents!

And yet another date: it’ll be all hearts and flowers on Saturday, 16th February when we celebrate Valentine’s Day with an evening of fun and games hosted by myself and Brian. More details on that closer to the time. Now, on behalf of myself and Norwest Bowls Club, I’d like to finish by wishing everyone a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.
