So where did the 2020 bowls season go? This is the time of year when all our lads and lassies at Norwest are gearing up for finals weekend but thanks to that nasty little virus, 2020 has turned out to be the season that never was. Well almost! Thankfully we have managed to get some action on the green and with lots of sanitiser and hand gel we seem to have managed to enjoy a few roll ups organised mainly by our ladies captain, Kath. Thanks Kath, brilliant job.
But now the not so good news: in only three weeks time our green will close for the winter. It’s a little earlier this year but our green keeper wants to do some very necessary maintenance so that it will be ready for 2021 when hopefully we will be able to get back to some semblance of normality.
However, I’ve also got some good news! On the weekend of 12th September, we are going to run the Anne Wilkinson ‘Changing Places’ Memorial Trophy competition. I’ve sent emails out to members with the details and, so far I’ve had a great response. So come on this is your last chance to get out on the green and enjoy yourselves. If you haven’t already done so, give me a ring and get your name on the list to play. Anne was an enthusiastic member of Norwest and she is still greatly missed. Anne loved her bowls, so I know she would love to think we managed to get out there and have some fun despite the dreaded virus. NH
